Soft Corners

Yellow Flower
Rethinking comfort beyond style

Soft Corners began as an interior design project for a young family who wanted their apartment to feel calmer, warmer, and easier to live in. Not more decorative. Not more luxurious. Simply more considered. Their previous space worked on paper, but not in rhythm. Movement felt interrupted. Storage was insufficient. Light was underused. Daily routines had no natural flow.

This is often where the most important interior work begins — not in choosing colors or objects, but in studying how people move, pause, gather, and withdraw throughout the day.

Built around use, not image

The redesign focused first on layout and spatial behavior. The kitchen was opened visually while preserving clear functional zones. Transitional spaces were softened through joinery and lighting. A series of custom-built elements brought storage into the architecture of the apartment rather than leaving it as an afterthought.

The project’s title came from one of the earliest conversations with the client. They said they wanted the apartment to feel “less sharp” in every sense: less rushed, less loud, less rigid. That idea stayed with us. It shaped not just the furniture and detailing, but the emotional tone of the whole interior.

Material warmth and visual quiet

Oak veneer, warm plaster tones, brushed metal accents, and textured textiles create an atmosphere that feels grounded and lived-in. The palette remains minimal, but not cold. Light becomes the main ornament here, moving across matte surfaces and revealing subtle depth rather than high contrast.

One of the most rewarding parts of the project was how clearly the spatial adjustments changed the feeling of the home. Nothing is particularly dramatic when seen in isolation. But together, the changes create a very different kind of daily experience.

A more generous everyday life

Soft Corners is a reminder that interior design is often most successful when it disappears into ease. The project does not demand attention at every turn. Instead, it supports the people living there with quiet confidence. For us, that kind of generosity matters more than novelty.
